Philosophy
Strives to conceptualize, develop, and create innovative designs through both physical and digital mediums to bring functionality and aesthetics to consumer lives.
I feel that these three competencies best reflect my design philosophy and the projects that I have completed while following it. My philosophy speaks to my ability to conceptualize and develop to innovate, which ties perfectly into form development and ideation. Fabrication techniques are present in my ability to create through physcial and digital mediums, while tieing in my eye for aesthetics and function. Create skills are present throughout my belief and my practice, as they allow me to use various ways of thinking to be the designer I am today.
Intent
I find my current status and position very suitable to take on a full time internship. This comes with my academic year coming to an end, opening up availability for me to learn, grow and develop my design skills through exposure to experience professionals in the field.
I feel that these three competencies best reflect the intent that I currently have. Professionalism, presentation and self management are all skills that I try to exercise in the work place to leave a positive impression. These competencies resonate with my intent, as I plan on applying for an internship that would no doubt require me to be professional in the workplace, present projects to my team and overall manage myself and my responsibilities within the task.
Why I Design
From a young age design has played a central role in my life and has greatly influenced the person I am today. I knew I needed to find a way to surround myself in design everyday, because its this passion that brings me joy and fulfilment. Ultimately, I want to transfer that same feeling of joy and fulfilment to the user when interacting with my design.
I feel that these three competencies best reflect my explanation for why I’m in design, and what I hope to accomplish. Self motivation is represent through my dedication to design before and during my time at OCADU wether it’s throught the creation of my entrace portfolio or striving for the best academically. This also falls into what I hope to achieve in the future, and that maintaining this motivation is crucial for my future success. My context of deisgn is also rooted in my past, with strong emphasis on scandinavian influence it helped me form into the person I am today, while OCADU greatly expanded my understanding and appreciation for design. My design process is also central to the reason that I am becoming a designer. The process and evolution of designing that starts from nothing and often ends with something amazing is a pleasure to be apart of and is sometimes the best part of the journey.
